BE A PART OF THE RACE TO 100 MPG FUEL EFFICIENCY!
WHAT: The Progressive Insurance Automotive X-Prize (PIAXP) is a $10,000,000 contest comprised of teams from around the world competing to create super fuel-efficient vehicles that attain at least 100 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent).
WHO: BITW Technologies is the only PIAXP Eco Racing Team based in the Southern Indiana, Louisville, Ky metropolitan area. We are one of just 39 remaining international teams involved in the PIAXP competition which started in 2008 with 111 entries. We have the only fully bio-diesel powered, practical entry, that is driven daily just as you drive your car. The power train has already logged over 7000 miles to date with no failures. We believe it has an excellent chance of winning this competition.
OUR ENTRY: The Vincitore', is now being pushed toward a range of 1000 (one-thousand) miles per 10 gallon tank. We were interested in saving fuel long before it became fashionable and there has never been a better time to prove the viability of our vehicle than right now.
TEAM NOTES: Some of our team members have prior racing experience, including the nationally recognized SAE Mini Baja race, Kart racing, IMCA EMod class stock cars, and Gymkhana Racing, as Drivers, Fabricators, and Crew. Collectively, our team members have many years of automotive, aviation, mechanical development, fabrication, and engineering experience to see us through the competition.
AWARDS: The Vincitore' was featured in the January 2010 issue of Diesel Power magazine. The BITW Technologies Team was recently presented with Indiana Senator Lugar's Energy Patriot Award.
